Introducing the greatest thing since (long before) sliced bread. These tortillas are made the old-fashioned way, no shortcuts. Masienda's whole-kernel, Mexican heirloom corn is gently cooked and slowly steeped in water and slaked lime (cal). This ancient, Mesoamerican preparation, known as nixtamalization, is key to imparting calcium and activating the essential amino acids and vitamin B3 found naturally in each kernel (making corn an OG superfood). Each batch is then stone ground, freshly pressed and baked before becoming a perfect, true tortilla.

We love the light nuttiness, natural oils and toasted corn flavor of these heirloom tortillas. They work fantastically for tacos, but are versatile enough to use in almost any Mexican preparation. 

STORAGE:  Because Masienda Bodega tortillas are produced entirely without artificial preservatives, they are best maintained in the refrigerator (10-14 days) or frozen (up to 3 months). We recommend keeping a pack in the refrigerator and freezing whatever you will not use immediately. 

Please note: Our last tortilla orders of the year will be sent out Monday, December 18th (to guarantee FedEx 2Day delivery). All other items will be shipped via FedEx Ground (final shipping day December 20th). We thank you for your support and happy holidays! Regular shipments will resume January 3rd, 2018.

REHEATING INSTRUCTIONS: If frozen, allow the tortillas to defrost in the refrigerator. Pre-heat a non-stick pan or skillet over high heat. Pro tip: Rub each side of the tortilla lightly with water, before reheating. Heat tortilla for 20 to 30 seconds per side, until soft and hot. Wrap hot tortillas in a clean kitchen towel to keep warm throughout your meal. 

SHIPPING: Our tortillas ship frozen in insulated boxes with cold packs to maintain temperature. All tortilla orders are shipped via FedEx 2 Day ($5 flat shipping rate) to ensure freshness. The tortillas may arrive slightly thawed and should be refrigerated or frozen immediately upon arrival. 

PLEASE NOTE: Masienda Bodega fulfills orders on Mondays and Wednesdays, each week, US holidays excluded. Cutoff time for outgoing orders is 5pm PT the day prior to shipment (i.e 5pm PT Sunday and Tuesday, respectively). For example, orders received after 5pm PT on Sundays will ship out the following Wednesday, while orders received after 5pm PT on Tuesdays will ship out the following Monday. Shipping requirements vary by product.
